What a great night. The first set is one of the best I have seen in years by any GD incarnation. The intensity just kept building and did not let up from one song to the next. Set 2 was ripping, too. Chi-Town crowd was groovin' and showed the band as much appreciation as they could muster. There's more to say, but check out the show and see the band if you can. Make the effort and, if you're like me, you won't be disappointed. Thanks, Furthur!

Total splatter fest, my god they have come so far They couldn't sound better, the jams are getting longer. John was on fire tonight. Bob & phil were so engaged. Who would have thought it, a whole show of second set songs! China rider, Scalet Fire, St. Stephen, the 11, so many shows, help slip frankilins. Best first set of the tour, this show was a best of summery show of the tour in one show. bring it on

holy sh*t...wasn't there to hear it, but based on the setlist, it would seem to be the top dog in show so far. Except for maybe Jackstraw, the 1st set looks like a second set, and you'd think it was a mistake, if the 2nd set wasn't posted elsewhere already. Any show with China/Rider, Scarlet/Fire, and Help/Slip/Franklin's would have been a mega-fantasy in the 80s or 90s. Throw in Eyes, UJB, and an Anthem/Aoxomoxoa sandwich, and it's just adding insult to injury! Topped off with a double encore, including the so-far rare Box of Rain (only 3 times for Furthur), and you know the band is feeling good. Makes up for what looked like a lackluster setlist the night before...but then of course, wasn't there, so who knows?

I am here to report that I made it out of that show alive...there was some initial doubt as I almost danced myself to death last night. WOWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!

This show was ALL that the set list would indicate. they were like prize fighters in there last night, landing punch after punch with gems and combos. I feel SO lucky to have been there

Matthew, Chicago, IL
This was an epic show. I've been going to shows since '89 and this show easily fits into my top five list. As I mulled going to the first night or the second night in Chicago, I read with disappointment at all of the gems from the first Chicago night. By the third song, I was so glad to have selected the second night to attend. A reviewer above commented they were like prize fighters, landing punch after punch. It's hard to have a show go beyond my expectations and this show exceeded my expectations in many ways.

The buzz in the crowd and the kindness of the Auditorium Theatre made for some good concert mojo. After the first set, I held myself back thinking that the second set would be a bit of a let down. The set closing China-->Rider was HUGE (as a guy in front of me posted on his iPhone). Eyes brought tears (along with a few other moments throughout the evening. The second set was unreal, especially So Many Roads--->Help, Slip, Frank. I was so surprised. A Box encore was hoped for and delivered on, but then a Johnny B. Goode right behind it! Sweet! I could go on and on, and it would be worthy praise.

A special shout-out to two groups. First, my mom, who's a Head and still goes to shows and she's over 70. She's done Alpine, Rosemont, and hung with me at Soldier for the last shows. How cool is that? Second, to the family from Racine who enjoyed the show behind me...It was great to cross paths with kindred spirits and I hope your kids enjoyed their ride on the Bus.

Finally, many of you might be wondering if what you're reading in any of these posts is the read deal. In my opinion, the energy and the magic are there in a very real way...In regards to Furthur, Ratdog, and other incarnations, enjoy it while you can, because when it's gone, it's gone...

I bought the CDs after the show. A great mix, and a great way to capture the evening...Mr. Kotter

Amazing sho I cudn't have requested a better setlist myself (PITB opener into born cross eyed) and all members took an early turn in the spotlite eyes(phil), jackstraw(bobby), wharf rat(kedlicek) then came a jammy unc johns band which went into a chinacat with a fanatstic rider to close the set. I saw both chi shows and weds was Much better then the first nite even tho tues nite was no slouch. Lots of extended jammin and lotsa vocal contributions by phil which didnt happen once the previous nite, John was on absoulte fire and as amazing as bob was he was by no means stealing the sho like tues nite. I shudn't complain bout anything but if I had to I wud say chimenti had a stronger nite on tues but he was still on top of his game and makin wonderful contributions that boy can jamm. Far and away the best post jerry dead sho I've have seen! scarlet/fire new potato st stephen, the other one so many roads, help/slip/franklyns tower equaled the the thunderous first set and I thot that wudb impossible. WOw I ms till floored by this sho! Props to the crowd for bein so engaged, energetic, and generous thru out the whole nite, ENCORE box of rain, johnny b. goode

Monster setlist (felt like Chicago sets 3 and 4 to me), incredible energy, awesome venue. I hope the downloads do this show justice because it really felt magic. Feels like the best post Jerry show for me from the post-show pink cloud. Jay Lane reconnecting with his long lost birth sister after the encore? Amazing. They've really hit on something special with this lineup. Can't wait for the summer tour.

Pat, Racine, Wi
Right on. Ok!!! Let's go all in and get Jay Lane a Drum Wall, get Mickey to do the consult and get into the groove! He's got the beat. Hey mister tamborine man play a song for me, I'M NOT SLEEPY AND THERE AIN'T NO PLACE I'D RATHER BE. well you know what I mean. Go Jay it's like jumping in a music factory, ya gotta jump with your own feet, you need in a wall dude, drum wall and throw Joe an extra special symbol, or maybe it's just me and that big imagination of mine. Let's remember them boys are following in legendary footsteps and are gettin' it, tough stuff right there! ottnawtnodi oao Eating a Clif Bar and it's chewy, numnumnum Just thinking about tomorrow and this interesting drum wall idea. Bam bam bam bam bam tiiiiiiiiii ban tiiiiiiiiii deghdegh brrrrmmmm t tiiii tiii tiii tiii tiii psssps bam bam (((b&m))). Maybe it was that stop over to the Philzone or just me? Excellent show setlist and reviews. Shiver me timbers, I've got goosebumps.

I was second row in the pit in front of JK last night. EPIC does not even come close to describing what was created last night! The boys opened up a big can of whoop ass with the thunder stick!!! Haven't danced like that in years..... They definitely have got the X factor workin'!everything was played the way it should be played. I am beginning to see what FURTHUR really means! It was everything you ever wanted to hear back in the day, and played out like we dream about. 500 shows under my belt, and I must rank last night in the top 3. Up on par with 2nd night Hampton Warlocks. It was the type of show you would tell your grandkids about. It was JK's coronation! Johnny B Goode tonight INDEED! Sitting in the airport waiting for a flight to Denver. I feel so blessed! As phil said last night "Well, it appears as if we have a strong, healthy family!!!" Indeed we do Phil. Indeed we do.

Jules, San Francisco
Setlists like this makes you pissed off that the Summer Tour is only boxed into the upper North East.

Cosmic Charlie, Baltimore, MD
wasn't at the show...but oh my god the setlist! I am so excited for the Portland show, but I hope it isn't entirely devoid of the songs from this show! I think what sets this list apart is the fact that aside from traditional Rider and Johnny b. Goode they only played Grateful Dead originals! i love all the covers that the guys do...but I'd rather hear any Grateful Dead song over any cover song.

Zack, Victoria, BC
Good times, it sounded as good as the setlist looks. Nice venue as well.
If we need to split hairs, I would love to see John sing more of the Jerry songs, he sounded fantastic on Warf Rat and So Many Roads.

tager, Chicago
Unreal show. I would also like to hear John sing more Jerry songs.
Nothung against Phil but John's voice is just so much better. Can't wait to see them again this summer.

Was at both Chicago shows and I have to say that the second night was one of the best set lists and show since my first show in 1981. I thought the first set was amazing but then the bus came by and the second set was unreal. St. Stephen>The Eleven>The Other One was tremendous. Then I thought the show would fade away from there. Was I wrong!!!! Help>Slip>Franklin's, it doesn't get any tastier than that. Great musicians making great music. I was lucky enough to be there for this amazing show.

Bill, Mystic CT
First night had its moments, but pretty weak overall. Second night was insanely good. Both the setlist and the delivery. All that second set stuff. It just kept getting better. At one point I turned to my buddy and said, "The only thing they have left to blow me away with is a Blues for Allah finale." we were both hoping for a Chuck Berry encore, and as much as I love Box of Rain, I thought it was too low key to end the night. The Johnny B. piggy back was perfect! I've been doing shows since 1978, and this one was right up there near the top.

Mitch, Grand Rapids, MI
Blues For Allah, indeed! Was thinking about that the other day...would work well with the ladies singing too!

As a veteran of many, many shows, THIS Furthur spectacle last night at the Auditorium, where I saw my first show in 1976, was AWESOME! As others have written, the show was like having two second sets, a virtual orgy for the newbie and oldster alike. I saw 60 year-young twirlers, happy, content and boasting about how John looked so happy, in deference to Bobby and Phil, so cool, so poised. I shut my eyes during Wharf Rat and found myself back in '77 touring the country. I am not one for reviews, but last night was so very special and, if they are to make a DVD of any show so far since July 95, this was it. It blew away anything by the Other Ones, the Dead, Phil and F's and Ratdog...I love Warren Haynes, love him, but this kid JK has game and is a natural fit. WOW!

Steve K, Palatine, IL
I was in the 15th row for the show and it was very energetic and lively...I know everyone is saying this, but I have seen the Gratefuld Dead many times with Jerry, I have seen every post-Jerry lineup there was...This is by far the best post-Jerry lineup EVER!...Saw the Dead on tour last year with Warren, it was good, but this group has that feeling of the Grateful Dead....My wife caught Phil just looking at the lights and smiling ear to ear numerous times....Bobby was singing his ass off...I was skeptical because alot of the tour he was singing the songs kind of like reading a poem...Last night Bobby was singing and loving it! John K. watched Bobby and Phil and just went along with the ride...He smiled the whole night and when I closed my eyes when he sang it was magical...The playlist was like a fantasy Grateful Dead playlist...They left no cards on the table, they played there hand, and they scored a royal flush! After the China/Rider ending to the first set, it was absolutely deafening, the crowd was going crazy...I only hope the summer tour comes through the midwest (ALPINE VALLEY)....Denver you are in for a real treat....And to all the nay sayers, I would challenge you to have half the energy that these guys have at there age...For gods sake Phil is going to be 70....Furthur is the real deal!

air jordan, Plymouth,Wi
Ridiculous show...2nd setx2.

Obviously the set list was awesome and well played...as good as any incarnation show, ever.

This band is super tight...however the band seems to have a stopwatch on some songs at 10 minutes. I have noticed that JK does not solo after every verse...such as eyes, fire, and franklins. I would like a 20 minute fire or franklins...I love this band, but JK could take it even furthur.

What a show!
Attended several of this tours shows including Miami,Charlotte,Hampton,Fairfax, and Buffalo.
This night had it all-the whole house was rocking.
Thanks to Eric W. for the "floor pass" and all the kind folks that helped me make it to the stage edge front and dead center.I was the bearded guy with too much energy for my age dancing away.
Thanks also to the folks that provided the extra ingredients that help fuel the evening- a good time was had by all!
Looking foward to this summers tour and festivals.
Thanks Furthur.

Something special has come back. Not that it ever really left- just got scattered a bit. Now that sound is distilled and concentrated again, focused pure energy holding it (us) together and letting it flow.
The last few years have been rough for me personally, so the Chicago shows felt like a blessing from the Universe. They gave me strength to keep trying to somehow be a better person, and the will to want to.
Why? Because it sounded so amazing that it seemed Heaven had opened up and was raining manna. I know that a man is just a man, but as a group we managed to forge that link to the divine which keeps us all coming back. As for me I just kept trying to give back all the love that the band, and the Universe, was giving us.
Thank you, band and fans, for all the sweetness, and for that rare, rare sound...

my first shows, Auditorium Theatre 1976~~(needless to say, I got the touch of grey). my 14-year-old daughter just got her first shows, Auditorium Theatre, 2010. so nice to share the whirlling magic with the next generation... thanks everyone~~for a real good time ~☼~

wow! unbelievable energy/setlist/performances/crowd! there was something special in the air on wednesday and i'm so glad i was there in the auditorium theatre to breathe it in. tuesday was great, too, but they really blew the roof of the place on wednesday. they are a BAND!

ac, chicago
This show was like winning the lottery. I was also at Tuesday night, which I enjoyed profusely. I remember saying before the first set of this show "they'd really have to work some magic to top tuesday". I had no idea what we were in for. All we need now is to expand the summer tour a bit. Alpine Valley anyone?
long live furthur!

Dan, Chicago
this show was one of the most amazing dead related musical experiences of my life and i saw my first show back in 73!!

first off look at this setlist....in all my many years of shows i have NEVER been at a show that had a setlist with this many GRATE songs and JAMS!
note that in the 1st set the music was NON-STOP...not a break between songs....it just FLOWED & FLOWED & FLOWED!

now i am going to attempt to review what went down song by song and let me tell you folks this show was not just good on paper...in person it was really and truly EPIC!!!!

the boys (and gals) came on not much past 7:40 for a show set to start at 7:30 so if you go to see Furthur don't be late cuz' they ain't messin around...the place went nuts and after a little tune up noodling they launched into PLAYIN IN THE BAND! right from the get go it was obvious that this one was going to be one hell of a nite! the playin was fast paced and hard hitting...phil was already dropping bass line bombs (as he continued to do ALL NITE!) and JK was just ripping it up...
the playin jam was not extended all that long and led into BORN CROSS EYED...this was nice version of a song i have not heard for quite some time but basically was just a "launching point" for what was to follow...as the born cross eyed jam start to really boil and cook it led into an absolutely amazing EYES OF THE WORLD!! they really smoked on eyes...phil sang this one and his vocals were right on...as they were all nite....in fact the entire band had one of the best vocal nites i have heard them have for years....i have to say that those chick singers do add power to the vocals which was fantastic...as the eyes jam went on and on JK did something he did throughout the nite...he drove the band into the zone known as the x factor...where everything just goes to another level...the beautiful eyes led into an explosive jack straw (who has ever heard an eyes>jack straw?? i know i haven't) that had all of us hanging on for dear life as they took that sucker into the stratosphere! they brought things down a notch with WHARF RAT which was delivered slow and stately by JK...but then once again the song started to build and build so that by the end the jam was once again HUGE! before we could catch our breath they rolled right into UNCLE JOHN'S BAND and played it all out balls to the walls...and without missing so much as a beat uncle john's went into CHINA>RIDER!!!! no standing on the moon in the middle of this one kids....they just ROCKED it out and the transition jam was a slice of "dead heaven" with the x factor once again being reached throughout the many jams on this amazing china>rider! by the time it ended and they took their break most of us were sitting there stunned thinking "did that just happen"? i mean it was like a 2nd set for a first set and i don't think i ever experienced that before!

knowing we had seen some real dead style magic the question was could they deliver a 2nd set to match or beat the first set? well guess what folks? THEY DID!!!

it was obvious that they were going for broke when they kicked off the 2nd set with a LONG and beautifully jammed out SCARLET>FIRE!! they were all over this...and let me tell you every member of this band is just awesome...from jeff's amazing keyboard work...to phil just blowing us away with his bass bombs...to bobby's incredible rhythm patterns on guitar and JK was just INCREDIBLE!! also the drummers while not BK & MH do a nice job keeping the beat going but they are not the driving force of this band....that job belongs to phil, bobby and JK....anyway the scarlet>fire moved into a very slow and dreamy NEW POTATO CABOOSE that was sung beautifully by phil (yes folks in my opinion phil's vocals were stellar last nite) the caboose gave us a chance to catch our breath again but before we could really relax the notes to SAINT STEPHEN started and once again the band took off going to places musically that i forgot existed! once again the x factor was reached as the st. stephen jammed into an absolutely balls to the walls THE ELEVEN that had the entire theater up on their feet (alot of us were on our feet for most if not all of the show!) the eleven was very long and jammed out leading into an explosive THE OTHER ONE that had phil dropping bombs all over the place and JK going ape shit...finally things slowed down with SO MANY ROADS and JK delivered a gorgeous heartfelt version with a guitar solo at the end that was truly moving. at that point i was thinking they might just do some rocker like sugar mags and call it a nite....but i was "dead" wrong as the notes for HELP ON THE WAY filled the theater i was like "you have got to be shittin me"!! well all i can say is the HELP>SLIP>FRANKLINS was AMAZING...high energy...jazzy...and rockin' all at the same time...here again thex factor was reached several times...especially on slipknot and the jams throughout franklin's tower.
fitting for a nite like this they did not one but TWO encores....a tasty BOX OF RAIN and hard rockin' JOHNNY B. GOODE.

if 6/16/74 was my personal "Holy Grail" of Grateful Dead shows then 3/3/10 is my personal "Holy Grail" of Furthur shows....and it's my only Furthur show so far,,,with hopefully more to come in the future!
i think that Furthur is a grate name for this band since they really do take the music of the grateful dead...FURTHUR!!!

a few other notes about last nite...phil is amazing! the man is almost 70 years old and he can still rock and roll like a kid...his bass playing and singing last nite were absolutely stellar!
bobby was fantastic...his singing was strong...he didn't mess up a single lyric  and his guitar playing was inspired....he was doing these amazing rhythm patterns on his guitar and mixed in some tasty lead lines throughout the nite...he played that pink guitar most of the nite
JK is the real deal...a GIFTED guitarist who has a true LOVE and RESPECT for the dead and their music...he was beyond amazing last nite...i can't say enough good things about him.
the "Furthurette" gals do contribute power to the vocals....they are not high in the mix but their vocals give the rest of the band's singing an extra "punch" that is quite dramatic!
having the show at the auditorium was inspired...the most beautiful venue you could imagine with incredible acoustics!

i don't know if i will ever see a show that will top this one....but i do know i want to see Furthur again when i get the chance!

LONG LIVE FURTHUR!!!!!!

Jim, Mt. Prospect, IL
Unreal.
I heard sounds in that 2nd set that I thought I would never hear again.
What a sweet, beautiful sound.

This show was truly one of those moments where the door opened up just a little and we saw the light. A very special and emotional night for all that were present. Mail order put me 3rd row in the pit where old timers with hundreds of shows under their belts were crying and hugging throughout the evening. Absolutely mind-blowing!

Where was I?.......sittin' with boardroom blues, making an inspiring presentation to a room of sr. executives - afterward applauded by the CEO of the largest business of a bustling city.

Where would I have rather been, on a night to inspire all life?.......singing a new song, reaching new heights, while flying through the night ~ soaring into the next great Supernova*

How mindboggling these formations in relationship are!
A Furthur destination always looms beyond....until we meet again in the clear Blue Ocean.....................................

Dear Bob and Phil,
There are no words.... All I can really do is simply thank you for including all of us on this magical journey. I feel so privileged that I....... and my children, can be a part of this. This tour has surpassed anything I could have hoped to have ever heard again. This music, or art, or whatever the hell it is, and I still dont know for certain just what that is...will live forever, and as participants, we will endure with it. The sheer joy we experience through this music is just not something that can be explained..... those thoughts are surely broken and perhaps are better left unsung...... the show is over, and there is nothing we can hold for very long...but what remains is that knowing twinkle in our eyes...... fare thee well, we love you more than words can tell!

Hey Now! This was the best show I've been to since Jerry died, so my mother says. I'm thirteen, but still a strong Dead Head at heart. I've lived my whole life around The Grateful Dead music, and this was the live show where they performed the best. Even if it's just Bobby & Phil, and some other guys (Dark Star Orchestra), they really delivered and it sounded exactly like the real thing. Furthur is really an excellent group to be playing the excellent musical creations of the Dead. They played all my favorites at this show, & I was soooooo impressed and my mind was blown away. Thanks for reading. :D Much Love,, Maia. <3
