Unbelieveable performance. It was one for the ages. After seeing them in Atlanta the prior night, tonight's performance was a polar opposite. Atlanta rocked! They came out on fire and smoked the whole evening. Tonight, they had it in cruise control at 55mph for the entire performance and it was one smoooooooooooooooooth ride! Someone I had met at dinner downtown prior to the show said they will probably go the mellow route tonight and she was spot on. JK was the glue and the Stella Blue was out of this world. The only question I have about tonight is why weren't the female vocalists singing during Stella? They could add some awesome harmonies to that tune. Anyway, other highlights were the Stranger, Bucket> Casey Jones set ender, and the Sugar Mag encore was great. Was it just me, or was that applause absolutely deafening during their final bow?! Garrman in Wilton, Ct,, you need to make it to one of the NYC shows. One more stop in Charlotte and then I am back in Bat Cave working on my pottery and other arts and crafts.

First Set, hot, hot, hot, Alabama smoked, pride of cucomunga, silvio, bucket> casey jones, all good, real good.
Second set, 15 "He's gone" at end, Stranger with what sounded like some slipknot in there, Mag Mountain and Strawberry fields, slow, real slow, beautiful stella blue, hot NFA and awesome sugar mag. Must go, see, hear for yourself, tune into sirus xm on Valentines day and experience this band!

After I got home from the show, I must have uttered the words "wow" and "that was fahking GREAT" about ten times in an hour. An experience I will never forget.
Firstly, JK doing Jerry's singing was incredible. Although his soloing lacks that "Jerry flavour" on occasion, his tone and style is spot on, and his vocals, exuberance, and love for the music is obvious. He and the rest of the young band seem to have energized Phil and Bob, and the whole band was tight and impressive. I kept looking at Phil and thinking to myself, "This guy's gonna be 70 in a few weeks?" It's hard to believe, but it's inspiration personified...the man is still one of the most amazing bassists I've ever heard, maybe better than ever. Although Bob's voice was a bit weak on occasion, his playing was better than ever. I think Bob evolved the most as a member of the Dead, and he continues to refine his skills. When it counted, however, he belted mightily...the "ride, ride, riiiiiiiii!" at the end of Hell in a Bucket was one fine example.
Casey Jones was sped up greatly at the end of the tune, churning and building like a locomotive. Truly powerful. Feel Like a Stranger was slowed down to a nasty, bluesy number that was an excellent lead into a stellar Hell in a Bucket. Sugar Magnolia was a great encore, but the highlight for me was Unbroken Chain. Just a monster arrangement and a smokin' middle section of the tune made my jaw drop.
I've seen many excellent shows at this venue: Zappa Plays Zappa, Lucinda Williams, Alison Krauss, Bela Fleck's Bluegrass Sessions, but I have never seen it packed with such pumped, partying, LOUD fans. It was a formidable room of energy that rivals any concert experience I've had. Truly awesome. No matter what the venue, SEE THIS BAND IF YOU CAN.

Let me start first by just saying thanks for the Furthur tour for their vist to the Asheville NC,,, While in town for the show, I also made a visit of the Biltmore Estate before the show. I can describe Biltmore venture as just Awesome ! If ya' ever have a chance,,, it's worth the visit to Asheville itself.
On with the show,,, It's just great the hear the spirit of music played and once again the opportunity to hear Phil and Bobby preform surrounded by outstanding musicians. In Hampton Va. 3/21/1985, I had an Alabama opener,,, with a killer set list, but this nights opener was also a treat. I thought it was played in fine form. Other 1st set highlights for me encluded Pride, Loser, and Casey J. Even ol' Silvio didn't have the Tequila part as Ratdog plays it, and a different version towards Dylan. 2nd set started with a good Stranger, outstanding Unbroken Chain and a relaxing Stella, but after listening to the CD a few days,,, I really like the He's Gone version.
The 2 gal back up singers adds flavor, Joe can lay down a mean beat, Jay bounces around & plays standing up, Jeff is outstanding ( as always ) on the keys and JK adds a touch of his own wonderful guitar work. I think he adds his own style for all these tunes. For me, Mag Mt. and Strawberry just don't do it for me personally, but ya' can't hit a home run everytime at bat. NFA and Sug Mag, were good choices, but the real highlight is once again just spening the evening listening to Phil & Bobby and the fantastic energy in the form of music they bring.
Did anyone else catch before the donor rap and off the mic ? Phil turned towards the band and in lip reading, I think he said something like "Now that's how we used to sound ! "
I don't know if it was the loud NFA reaction from the crowd or the sound Phil is searching for, but I do know that I'll keep going for this sound until they decide to quit. Thanks again guys for the Ride ! Peace.

Wrote a whole review, but my internet crashed. Thought it was the best first set up this show. The second set had some nice moments, but then really slowed down.
So here is the rating, so far:
1) Atlanta
2) Miami
3) Orlando
4) Asheville (But still a really nice show)
