WOW... forgive me because I am still coming down from a high from this show, but I want everyone to know THIS WAS THE VERY BEST MUSICAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE, HANDS DOWN!!!!

I'm 25, I started listening to the Dead three years ago and that first song, Box of Rain, has given me so much inspiration though the absolute worst of times in my life... I've been to 10 shows in the past 2 months (3 Ratdog, 4 DSO, 3 Furthur) and "the Dead" in April...and all I've wanted to hear was Phil sing Box of Rain, and he came out and sung it THE FIRST SONG!!! Tears streaming down my face... The rest of the show was a bonus...

HIGHLIGHTS:
Set 1: Best Estimated Prophet I've heard ANYWHERE EVER!!!, Miracle was great, Candyman ABSOLUTELY COSMIC!!!
Set 2: Lost Sailor/St. of Circumstance was sick..Sugaree was unreal, TERRAPIN Brought the entire place down !!!! And then an unbelievable Help/Slipknot/Frianklins the crowd was so loud at the end Ive never heard or seen anything like it. Bobby was dead tired soaked in sweat, hugging Phil before his donor rap, and then into US BLUES..

I will never forget this night until I die ~~LONG LIVE THE DEAD!!!!!!!

Jumping Jay and Joe Russo are a super tight duo!

People..Don`t miss this band if they come your way!!! This is the REAL DEAL!!

They are missing Box of Rain on the setlist?

Dino, Monmouth Beach
WOW!I HAVENT HEARD ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT SINCE THE SPRING OF 95.JOHNS GUITAR PLAYING AND VOCALS BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES!THE SETLIST IS WRONG MASONS CHILDREN WAS FIRST.I CANT WAIT TO SEE THEM IN DELAWARE IN FEBRUARY.

JOHN FEELEY, BEAR,DE
i enjoyed the night with this version of the Dead . However for my taste i'd rather they didn't use a Jerry Impersonater The sets were tight and the band definetly hit a grooove . Maybe this band will grow on me.

Bruce, Brooklyn
I was very impressed with this show. I was psyched to see this lineup ever since I heard recordings of the first three Oakland shows and was blown away by how much it sounded like the Dead I remember from the old days. I was not disappointed.

Super solid song selection. From seeing the setlists of previous nights I was pretty sure we'd get Sailor/Saint, Help/Slip/Frank, and Terrapin, and boom there they were.

Box was indeed beautiful. I was front row on the rail almost directly in front of Phil so it was pretty goddamn cool to have the band come out of the gate with this song. Miracle was solid and fun. TLEO was John's first vocal lead and he was great. That guy must be having the time of his life. Not only a dream come true to have your cover band hit it as big as DSO did, then to actually play with and be at least partially responsible for the reinvention and revitalization of your idols must be something to write home about.

It must be something of a time warp for the boys to be playing these songs quite these ways again, so much like it used to be. There was very little of the "newer" arrangements we've seen as the songs have evolved over the years. I noticed Phil and Bob with their eyes closed seeming to just be feeling it for alot of the show, so I really wonder if they find themselves as transported to the past as I did during these sets. John's greatest moment in my eyes was that one explosive guitar part between the first and second verses of Terrapin Station: after blasting it out rock solid, the joy and exhilaration was just written all over his face. It was an extreme pleasure to witness.

The only critical statement I could make was about tonight's Mason's Children. Bobby kind of needs to relearn the chords, the song sounded flat and empty during the parts that he just stopped playing in the middle of each verse.

I have to say I had an amazing show. Quick note about the venue, the security inside was cool up where I was. The cops in the area brook no foolishness after the show let out. There were bars within walking distance with good after hours bands though, Splintered Sunlight Saturday night and Juggling Suns on Sunday, so that was a good place to go to avoid the popo's harrassment. I hope those of you reading this got to experience some of the magic of this tour. I can't wait for February, and here's hoping for a killer summer tour as well!

WOW!!!
I never in a million years thought it could ever be this good........again. Garcia never deviated from his perspective of "it's all about the music" when he was here. I'd like to believe that would still be, and is, his perspective now and that most fans of the band staunchly adhere to that mantra as well. That being said, we should all feel incredibly fortunate for the "stars to have aligned" resulting in the current incarnation of the Band. Band member politics aside from a fans perspective should fall to the wayside.................THESE GUYS ABSOLUTELY F-N ROCK AND IMO DELIVER WHAT EVERY TRUE DEADHEAD HAS BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR 14 YEARS.............THE SEARCH IS OVER.......THE SOUND HAS BEEN FOUND!!!!

Both nights were really stong I liked to see that their trying to improve a little with John. Terrapin, help slip.franklins tower was beutiful. Loved the New speedway Boogie and Althea from the first night. Altogether a facilitation of an out of body expereince.

Asbury Sunday Opener was BOX OF RAIN! Then Miracle. Beautiful show. Feels like Jerry was there. He was there.

Bruce Bingman, New York, NY
This was by far one of the best if not the best incarnation post Jerry. Those that were here in '77 for Jerry's shows could feel his presense. Box was excellent, Phil's voice strong, Cumberland was a gold nugget. The band was tight and you could see they were having a great time. The interplay between all members invoked another time and space. Terrapin was so transendental that even the ladies came out from back stage to enjoy the ride. This was the first show I experienced with my son (when he was 8) since Bobby played Count Basie on Red Bank in '95. He commented the show was better than Vibes this past year. His girl firend said every song was like an encore. All you can say is "THANK YOU FOR A REAL GOOD TIME"

No need to repeat the sagely advice and wisdom posted above. Class of "78 reporting in here and I have to honestly say it was the best set of back to back shows I've ever seen, and yeah I've seen every incarnation of the Dead (except for Pigpen).

This is just all the right ingredients, timing, state of mind and being by all participating parties.
Enjoy the ride!!!!

Can't wait for Radio City. They'll be doing an acoustic set by then, right?

Peace

This show was fantastic. A much better atmosphere than the shows in NYC. Better venue, better sound, better band.

The Highlites: Phil singing Box of Rain and Franklins Tower, the overall sound of the band and the fun they looked like they were having.

The Lowlites: Bobby singing Sugarree or should i say talking the lyrics. Jon should sing this tune. Bobby also forgeting the lyrics to US Blues multiple times.

Greg L., Clifton
Why does the setlist still say I Need A Miracle was the opener? It was clearly Box Of Rain.

My highlights: Estimated Prophet, Cumberland Blues, Sugaree, Terrapin Station

Very very grateful for a good time on Sunday.

Phil M., Salisbury, MD
this show rocked! The sweet fans having Christmas with the band was the best. The place was decoratednice and the vibe was good. where wewere standing we noticed the audience flubbing some of the lyrics, guess we blew some too.hope you'll forgive us there are just so many songs to know. they make there Christmas cookie recipes out of there heads.

Don't be a stranger to this side.

So, it wasn't just between my ears. Box opener and Lost/Circumstance were my favorites. Glad to see I'm not alone. 30 years on and 50 some shows, this was better than ever. John provided that further lead, alloweing Bob and Phil to follow it out and out and out, just like they did for their first 30.

What a great building - 3,600 souls. The inside security was the best - I had 3 flashlight carriers shaking it with Sugaree

Bring on Radio City and Bethlehem - I've got my passes. Don't miss this one. Roll away.

Class of 74 here. I`ve seen over 100 dead shows, most post Jerry line ups and countless Rat dog and F&F shows. It took awhile but the got their shit right now!! I was blowen away At the Sat. night show. Tears ran down my face by the end of warf rat....I could`nt imagin Sunday could be any better. But was I worng! I`m sure Jerry was standing next to the guy they call John K playing the guitar. Countless times in the night I closed my eyes and heard Jerry playing again...But when I opened my eyes I saw John standing on stage like an angel sent to us from Jerry ..Playing every note the way Jerry wanted us to hear it!
I left the show Sunday with the feeling that our captain was in our presance again in the form of and angel named John K.
For the first time in almost 17 years I`m planning to follow this band for all 24 nights of their run. I know Jerrys following them also!

Billy O, Trenton,NJ
That would be P&F shows Billy!!

TSJ, Toms River, NJ
I have to agree with Greg L. Bobby should not be singing Sugaree, and he did talk the lyrics. not much singing.
Still the show was amazing. This band is great.

Keith, Altoona, Pa
never thought you could have this much fun in jersey! the show was stellar! got my tickets the day they came out, and it was totally worth it. great show, great setlist. highlights were definetly tleo, estimated, lost/saint, mason, and definetly terrapin. terrapin was absolutley wicked, listen to it if you havent already. the crew is definetly out in force seeing as at 5am i was in the boiler room of the hotel with people from cali, oregon, colo, okla, maine, nc. see everyone in hampton and hopefully a few others (fairfax? asheville? bethlehem? newark?). see ya'll out there

Evan, Richmond, VA
Absolutely stellar. Opening with Box of Rain was unbelievable and I knew that it was just the start of what would be a night of amazing music and high times. I was hoping for a Terrapin the first night and got this night and it did not disappoint. It was EPIC! Furthur is the real deal!
