Reviews
Wow! In Wallingford, the whole band was hot, the list was great, but tonight was for real Deadheads to appreciate where John K can take this band. The Althea, New Speedway Boogie, Wharf Rat segment demonstrated just how good he is. Soulful singing, melodic leads, and patient jams - I feel lucky to watch this thing develop and grow night after night. It's been only 8 shows total people!

On the way home from Asbury, after listening to the second set from last night's show, we put on Steppin' Out with the Grateful Dead - soundboard excerpts from 1972 in England and highly recommended, by the way. This is the sound that Furthur is trying to replicate. Listen to both side by side and appreciate where this band is headed.

Last comment, when you're at these shows, buy the soundboard recording. The quality is better than the ones from the Dead run last spring.

I wasn't at the NYC or CT shows, but after seeing last tonight's show in Asbury I'm thinking a lot of those commenting here on those shows must have taken the "brown acid". Too bad, because............

Last night was incredible. I'll leave the bitchin to the others. I've got to get ready for tonight!!!!!!!!!!

i fully agree with buhda2. This show was hot. Started out a little slow, but pick up from One More Saturday Night which closed out the first set. Can't wait to see what they pull out tonight. One more thing I hope they down down the heat, was way too hot inside.

I went to this show with an open mind after reading the reviews from the NYC shows......Holy Crap!!! This is the best post Jerry lineup by far!!! They ripped the place up!!! I saw 5 dead shows last year with Warren. John K blows him away playing dead music.. I havent heard playing like that since Jerry. His singing was right on also!
People..This lineup is a must see!!!!

I'm still waiting for the livedownload from the Wallingford show. Any reason it's taken two day and not ready yet. I'll have to be patient and listen to Steppin Out w/ the GD.

Bob, Danbury, CT
had a feeling when they did one more saturday night as the first set closer, they might have something special up there sleeves for the encore... G-L-O-R-I-A! yeah, baby!

The youthful exuberance of the 4 J's is the ingredient that makes this a delicious recipe and a can't miss for any all Deadheads!

Make plans to catch one this winter.

Let's close the decade tonight with a harbinger of things to come!!

Keep hopping Jay!

And that HAD TO be Senator Patrick Leahy/Vermont as Phil's personal concierge last night. if not the guy's a DEAD ringer.

This show was killer. We really enjoyed John's guitar playing and singing. After seeing DSO in Syracuse a few weeks ago, I knew we were in for a treat! He compliments Bobby and Phil better than anyone so far in the post GD era, in my opinion. We love Jackie Greene and he was killer at Penns Peak last summer with the Dog. But John's playing is deeper and Deader~!

To strathmere sid - that was not Patrick Leahy, it was Robbie Taylor, longtime GD Roadie!

This band kicked ass! Simply the best post dead lineup. John from DSO fits in so well. Joe and Jay were great also .
Love to see Billy and Micky back!!!

Holy Cow Bat Man...What a show in Asbury Park last night...after listening to the Fox shows and the first night of this leg I wasn't sure what all the negative reviews were about but having seen "the boys" last night I know...people just don't get it! This ensemble is AWESOME! And yes I've seen it all....dead w/ Jearry and all the changes since his departure...THIS IS IT! Is it the Grateful Dead? NO Is it terrific? YES! Smokin'!!!!!!!! First show I've seen on this tour. Thought it was fantastic! First set was good, second set was GREAT! Took a little while for them to get in the groove, but once they did, they were dead on! John K was fantastifc - this kid is can really jam!

Wallingford was sloppy at best but Saturday was much stronger and tighter. Great venue and while John is getting much deserved attention, What about Russo?? He is bringing some much needed energy to he throne, so to speak,

Not sure where the negative comments are coming from. One reviewer said that the second set setlist was stale! I suppose that the second set being all pre 80's vintage compositions is stale. I was thrilled not to get something a little "fresher" like Tons of Steel or when push comes to shove. The first set was short but played pretty damn well. Second set was absolutely smokin!!!

i came i saw THEY CONQUERED. any one sayin the second set was stale or elsewise must have been smokin crack the second set was FIRE!!! can't wait to see more of this lineup

Comin at this from a different direction. Bobby's whole act has been getting to me for awhile. I really can't stand him singing Jerry songs. Generally, he kind of speaks them rather than sings. And everybody knows that John's voice sounds a lot like Jerry's - I think it's natural, not contrived. So my point is why does Bobby still find it necessary to sing half of the Jerry songs??? Some guys I met before the show echoed the feeling - Bobby is suffering from deep Jerry-envy. I think he purposely forgets song lines just to get a laugh out of the crowd. The icing on the cake was when he decided to sing BOTH verses of I Know You Rider. It pissed me off so bad I didn't stay for the encore.

I saw both Dead shows in Philly last summer. The Friday night show was kind of like this show - Bobby dominating the action, Warren playing sideways facing Bobby. On Saturday night, Warren actually sang and played to the audience and it was awesome. We only had a few moments like that out of John at this show - Brown Eyed Women and Althea were smoking hot. Bobby has got to back off and let the music play.
